Terms and conditions relating to Covid-19 and flu-like symptoms

The health and safety of our pupils and staff is of the utmost importance to us. Therefore, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have implemented the following terms and conditions:


For everyone's safety, our driving instructors can refuse to give lessons to pupils who are presenting flu-like symptoms, or symptoms which are potentially associated with coronavirus. Please note that in this case you will also lose your fee for any pre-booked lessons which are out of the 48-hour cancellation notice.


You are obliged to let your instructor know as soon as possible if you have any symptoms, in order to prevent the spread of the virus.

Personal protective equipment

It is mandatory for our pupils to wear a disposable face mask and to sit on a seat cover for the duration of their driving lesson. We can provide a disposable face mask for you and hand sanitisers. You also have the option to bring your own face mask and hand sanitisers.


The driving instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson and future lessons with immediate effect if a pupil refuses to wear a face covering. You must follow our driving instructors' guidelines at all times in regards to health and safety rules.


Personal health and mental health conditions, or long term health conditions


If you have any underlying health conditions or mental health conditions you must make us aware of them immediately. You must notify us before you book your driving lesson with us by text message or email (info@jcmdrivingschool.co.uk) Failure to notify us will result in you losing your fee for the pre-booked driving lessons, and any other lesson out of the 48-hour cancellation notice. If you have any long term physical conditions which could lead to a safety risks while behind the wheel. You must inform us immediately to prevent any potential accidents or safety risks. Your information will help us to continue to provide the best possible service.



Learner driver terms and conditions

Pupils must be aged over 17 or older to be able to take driving lessons in accordance with UK law.

Pupils must hold a driving licence that is valid for the UK (provisional, full or an appropriate foreign licence). Pupils must inform their instructor immediately if they receive any endorsements on their driving licence during the period they are receiving tuition.


It is your responsibility to provide your driving instructor with proof that you have a valid provisional licence, to drive at the start of every lesson. If you fail to provide this proof, your instructor has the right to refuse to continue with the lesson and you will lose your fee.


You must give your instructor a minimum of 48 hours notice if you wish to change, amend or cancel a lesson. Failure to do so will result in you losing the fee for that driving lesson.


All driving lessons must be prepaid via bank transfer or cash to complete the booking.


To reduce the spread of Covid-19, all our driving instructors are now obligated to only conduct lessons lasting a maximum of 1 hour 45 minutes. This will allow them enough time to sanitise and clean the car correctly between each lesson.


All our pupils must be fit, well and able to concentrate when using company vehicles. Our instructors reserve the right to cancel any lesson if they deem you unfit or unwell. You will lose the fee for that lesson for failing to comply with our rules.


JCM Driving School has a zero tolerance approach to any forms of deliberate negligence, including but not limited to: fast and reckless driving that could potentially lead to a speeding fine or accident, intentional damage to a vehicle or property, verbal or physical abuse towards your driving instructor and intentionally dishonest slander against JCM Driving School.


If you choose to stop taking driving lessons and you still have pre-booked lessons outstanding. You must inform us within 14 days from your last driving lesson to avoid losing any remaining lessons.


Our instructors will text or call you upon their arrival, it is then your responsibility to attend promptly. Our driving instructors are only expected to wait 30 minutes prior to the agreed meeting time if no contact has been mad

Our pupils have a responsibility to provide the driving school or instructors with their mobile or landline telephone number in order to update them if any issues arise. If your home address has any parking restrictions or is difficult to find due to the road layout or being a newbuild property. It is your responsibility to notify us or your instructor by text message and verbally guild them to your home. Its your responsibility to provide this information upon booking your driving lessons to get the full time book.   


We are only responsible for payments made directly to JCM Driving School, any payments made directly to your driving instructor are solely between you and the instructor.


For the safety of your instructor and the public, you must follow your driving instructor's instructions and direction at all times especially when using company vehicles. Failure to do so will result in the lesson being swiftly stopped and you will forfeit the remaining time and fee paid.

Car hire

We charge a fee to hire our company vehicles for your practical driving test. The car comes fully equipped with dual controls and all the safety equipment you need in order to conduct your driving test in a safe manner. We are not responsible for any negligent and reckless driving, speeding or speeding tickets accrued whilst using our vehicles. We are not responsible for any vehicle mechanical failure or tyre punctures due to the misuse of company vehicles during your driving lesson or test. Our driving instructors reserve the right to withdraw the tuition vehicle from your driving test without notice if you are unable to meet the driving standards for your practical test.


Our driving instructors will advise pupils when it is the appropriate time to book the practical driving test. Please listen to your driving instructor's advice, they want you to pass your driving test.


Our driving school tuition is available between 9am to 5pm. All practical driving tests booked before 9am will be charged at an extra rate.

Mechanical car faults or physical damage to our car within a driving lesson

JCM Driving School are not responsible for any mechanical faults with the tuition vehicles during a driving lesson or test. Our tuition vehicles are regularly serviced and maintained to the highest standards. We shall always do our very best to make sure that your tuition vehicle is clean and presentable. Our company vehicles must be driven in a safe and courteous manner at all times. Pupils must do their very best to follow the guidance given to them by the instructor to avoid any mechanical breakdowns or physical damage. We would advise that our pupils do their best to avoid any potential hazards on the roads. These include, but are not limited to, potholes, kerbside, drain covers, broken glass, puddles and any other visible dangers. If you follow these rules, we should see a reduction in breakdowns and physical damage.

Refund policy


We offer all our pupils a trial driving lesson which will be prepaid in advance. If you are satisfied and wish to continue, you can book a block of lessons or pay as you go. After the trial lesson, any prepaid or block bookings you purchase are non-refundable or non-transferable. Unless your driving instructor is unable to complete the remaining driving lessons with you. If you choose to book a block, without using the pre paid trial lesson first. (Please note they are non refundable)


Driving test bookings with DVSA


We are not responsible for any practical or theory test cancellation upon booking your tests with the DVSA. The DVSA are a fully independent company and we have no jurisdiction with their decisions and policies. If you reserve and book your driving test with JCM Driving School. We will not issue refunds for driving tests cancellations. Please read in full and be aware of all the above information to help you make the best decision.   


Complaints


We will always do our very best to provide you with the highest standard of tuition, but in the event of a complaint, all efforts must be made to resolve the problem directly with your driving instructor first. If you are still not satisfied and wish to contact us, you are required to do so within 24 hours of your complaint by email only. You must provide us with proof of your issue or complaint and we shall aim to respond to you within 2 weeks. Email: info@jcmdrivingschool.co.uk.


Safety dash and body cameras


The recordings will assist us with any potential non-fault driving accident. Which will give us a clear understanding of what happened on a driving lesson for insurance purposes.


Social media and photographs 


We take photographs for social media, advertisement and business promoting purposes. We take photographs when pupils pass their driving test with JCM Driving School.


Intellectual property


The copyright and other intellectual property rights published on our website are owned by JCM Driving School.


Trademarks


We expressly reserve all rights in and to the www.jcmdrivingschool.co.uk domain name and all related domains. The name JCM Driving School our logo, service marks, trading names, trademarks, products and company name and services.


Your agreement with JCM Driving School

JCM Driving School reserve the right to change our terms and conditions without notice. We reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on our site without notice. We will not be liable if for any reason our site is unavailable at any time or for any period. From time to time, we may restrict access to some parts of our site, or our entire site. Our driving school will always follow strict guidelines and regulations and provide the best possible service.


All our pupils must agree to act and behave in a courteous and professional manner at all times. If you choose to use our driving school services, vehicles and products you agree to our terms and conditions.
